Salsa Dancing Cross Body Lead 180

8th February 2010

This intermediate salsa dance video lesson of addicted2salsa (http://addicted2salsa.com/videos/advanced), we go back to the basics to help you learn how to do a 180° Cross Body Lead with a Turn (*a few others call this the Coca Cola move). We first start off refreshing you what a Cross Body Lead with a Turn looks like and from there add-on the extra dance steps required to do a half-revolution. Getting the 180 degree cross body lead will help build the salsa framework for you to execute the 360 cross body lead – which will show you in a future episode.

Great lesson, finally a good tutorial on the c.b.l. with 180 turn. One recommendation though- please give a little more detail on the follow’s part. She does not go back on 1 like normal, but instead rotates 180. There’s something new there for the follow that could do with some more explanation. I was trying to teach my wife and could use some more help there. Otherwise, great job!

    Stepping forward …
Stepping forward with your left foot on2 is Puerto Rican style – which it called ‘Dancing on Men’s Timing’. In NY style, (as politeness to our ladies), men start back with the right on count 2 (called “Ladie’s Timing”). Note that the steps are exactly the same – it is just a matter on how you start. Either timing is interchangeable.

  23. apersaud Says:

    We exaggerate the …
We exaggerate the moves so they are clearer for people watching the videos on what we are doing (bigger steps, slower movements, highly extended arms). For more information on how the supplemental video instruction differs from proper social dancing – visit our website. Thanks! :-)

  24. apersaud Says:

    We dance the …
We dance the introduction of the video in On2 timing (Eddie Torres / NY Style), we explain the move in On1 timing and do it at the very end again for the On2 counts.

Please note that the cross-body leads are happening on count 2, which is a clear indication we are dancing On2 (clave). When dancing On1, the cross-body lead happens on count 5.
