I don’t have a boyfriend now, but I’m just curious about this. I’ve always been interested in taking salsa lessons, but most guys have no interest in joining the girlfriend for something like that! So if you have a significant other that has no interest in salsa dancing, is it innapropriate to take lessons and go to clubs without him? As much as I want to learn the salsa, I try to put the shoe on the other foot: if I had a boyfriend that was dancing in a VERY sexy and sensual way with other women, I’m sure it would make me uncomfortable! From the little I’ve seen on TV (of people dancing salsa), it looks extremely sexual. Is there a way to dance the salsa without being disrespectful to the significant other? Or do they just have "to get over it"??!!
I don’t see a problem. My wife and I salsa and when we go out together we dance with different people. And since we often live apart, we go dancing alone or with friends frequently. There is little reason to be jealous if it is just dancing (and you can tell when its not). Salsa is SENSUAL not SEXUAL. I should add, to learn to dance–salsa and other stuff–you need to dance with different partners. Try going with a group of friends or make friends at a class and you can dance with other people and not feel creepy.

I’m praticing Salsa dance right now, but every time I dance, I often accidently kneed guys right in the groin. It happen three times this week now. Now no one want to dance with me because fear of me hurting their familly jewel..
So how can I avoid kneeing guy right in the groin while doing Salsa dance?
When you move forward you should have your hip lead you forward. Then it kinda rolls down to your foot. If you have to knee lead you that’s what would likely to happen.
If you bump his groin with your hip instead he’ll be sooo happy and they’d wanna dance with you again.

Social Dance: Steps to Success will teach you all the moves for eight popular dance styles: Swing Cha-cha Foxtrot Polka Waltz Rumba Tango Salsa/mambo Each step in the progression teaches you a new skill, then builds on those skills to develop creative dance routines. Not excellently, but well enough not to make a total fool out of myself at a party I’ll be attending in a copule of months. Can’t afford lessons (and frankly I don’t think I’ll have enough time to attend classes regularly). What websites do you recommend to help me learn?
Any other recommendations?
Azuca’! jeje
But umm.. any website where I can gather some tips?
The sarcasm isn’t helping, you know…
I can practice, but I’d appreciate a website as reference.
I don’t know what level you are on. But if you go to YouTube and type in "salsa lessons", you will find some clips for basic stuff. But ignore one instructor named Marlon Silva. That guy is not doing salsa. It will only mislead you.
If you already know the basic, then I suggest you to type in the following things
1. Super Mario Salsa
2. Milton Cobo
3. Sarai salsa
4. Magna jareau
5. Francisco Vasquez
6. NYC Salsa Congress
7. Chicago Salsa congress
That’s what I can think of so far….
But remember…you can always find something on YouTube.com
